A BILL to amend article two, chapter eighteen of the code of West
Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended,
by adding thereto a new section, designated section twelve,
relating to mandating teaching a program on West Virginia
natural resources in the public schools.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That article two, chapter eighteen of the code of West
Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as
amended, be
amended by adding thereto a new section, designated section
twelve to read as follows:
ARTICLE 2. STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION.
§18-2-12. Course of study on West Virginia natural resources.
The state board of education shall, with the advice of the
state superintendent of schools and the director of the division
of natural resources, prescribe a program for use in the public schools of this state on West Virginia natural resources. The
county superintendent shall arrange for the program on West
Virginia natural resources in each school in the county.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to require the State Board
of Education to prescribe a program on West Virginia natural
resources in the public schools of this state with the advice of
the Division of Natural Resources.
